Wind Estimation
Without airspeed sensor:
- Paragliders:
Special wind estimation method. After flying in a few different directions the first estimate is available. No need to fly circles. - Hanggliders:
Wind is calculated from flying one or more circles
With airspeed sensor:
- Fast and precise using advanced geometric calculations and filtering
Bluetooth Interface
The interface has built-in support for several specific devices, but also understands other well known NMEA-like protocols.
TotalVario offers two own protocols, $PTVSOAR and $PTV, which comprise all relevant data sources / sensors. Refer to the specification for more details.
Furthermore, following devices are detected by their specific protocols, and related extra features are provided:
- BlueflyVario $BFX and $BFV
- XCTracer $XCTRC
- Compass C-Probe $PCPROBE
- $LXWP0
- $LK8EX1
- _PRS/_BAT (Flynet)
- PRS (Bluefly raw pressure)
- $POV (P,Q,T,H,V,E) (airspeed (S) and total pressure (R) are ignored)
See also Hardware Requirements
BlueflyVario Support
- TotalVario works with BlueflyVario V10, V11 and V12. The new Bluefly versions (V2*) should work as well.
- For Pitot airspeed you need Bluefly Version 12 (or with some restrictions V11) with the Bluefly airspeed extension. Other versions can be used without
Pitot. Please check the hardware requirements.
- Automatic setup of the required protocol (BFX) and other parameters after connect
- Editor for Bluefly hardware parameters
- Option to enable/disable Bluefly buzzer
XCTracer Support
- TotalVario works perfectly with the XCTracer using the $XCTRC protocol.
- An extra option to calm the acoustic signal is provided.
- If desired, the GPS information sent by XCTracer can also be used by TotalVario.
C-Probe Support
Pitot zeroing is supported. Data of the IMU are ignored. Please be aware that the Compass C-Probe sensor should work, but has not been tested with real hardware yet.
Just contact me for support.
Parallel Operation
- Forwarding of all relevant flight data via TCP/UDP to secondary app (XCSoar, Tophat, XCTrack, LK8000, ...), depending on app capabilities, using the $PDGFTL1 protocol
- Option to toggle between main screen and any additional/secondary app using the cover sensor (if supported by Smartphone model and Android version)
Data Recorder
- Supports IGC logging (valid G record for online contest)
- Detailed flight logger using proprietary, compressed FDR (Flight Data Record) format
- Replay recorded flights, play/pause/fast-forward feature
(2x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x, 100x) - Conversion of FDR files to valid IGC or also GPX at any time
- Flight data management
- Log files automatically organized in one subfolder per year
- IGC upload to DHV-XC online contest server
- IGC upload to Leonardo servers
Live Tracking
- Supports Livetrack24 / SkyLines / FFVL / Puretrack
- Auto or manual live tracking activation
- Internal buffer for GPS data (no gaps if connection is down)
- Configurable tracking interval
Flight Book
- Independent from flight recorder
- Extensible, human and machine readable text format (tagged section format)
- Date, time, position, takeoff, landing, statistics, duration, height difference
- Browse / read flightbook, normal or reverse order
- Add / edit notes for a flight entry
- Easy access to related recorded file for any flight
